Finally, Somewhere to Put the Safety Squat Bar
A safety squat bar is brilliant for leg day and impossible to store. The camber, the yoke and the pads mean it does not sit in a normal vertical bar holder and it does not lie flat anywhere useful. The PRx Safety Squat Bar Storage is 7-gauge steel built specifically for that shape, with a deeper stand-off from the wall that clears the bends.
It mounts to a single stud, holds 200 lb, and takes most specialty bars on the market — hex bars, curl bars and standard Olympic bars included, ceiling height permitting.
Key Features
The deeper wall stand-off is designed around the bends and yoke of a safety squat bar.
Heavy 7-gauge steel with a black powder coat, rated to 200 lb.
Needs just one stud, so you can place it in the gaps other storage cannot use.
Safety squat, hex, curl and standard Olympic bars all fit the 2" sleeve opening.
Sized for Olympic-diameter sleeves, with 4.25" on center from the wall.
All mounting hardware ships in the box for a quick install.
American-built steel from the PRx storage line.
Description
You bought the safety squat bar because it lets you squat heavy with a cranky shoulder, or because it hammers the upper back in a way a straight bar never will. Then you got it home and discovered the second problem: it is a strangely shaped 60-plus pound object that fits nowhere. Leaned in a corner it slides. Laid on the floor it becomes an obstacle. Racked in a standard vertical holder the camber fouls the wall.
PRx built this mount around that exact geometry. The 2" hole takes an Olympic-size sleeve and sits 4.25" on center from the wall, and that extra depth is what lets the bends and pads clear the drywall instead of fighting it. Seven-gauge steel and a 200 lb rating mean a heavy specialty bar hangs without any flex worth mentioning. Overall it occupies 10.5" x 3" x 6", so it is a genuinely small piece of wall for a genuinely large problem.
It is not limited to one bar either. Hex bars, curl bars and standard Olympic bars all store here, the last one subject to your ceiling. To work out clearance, measure your bar and add 10" — that is the minimum ceiling height you want so nothing meets the ceiling on the way in. The bar also needs at least 6" of sleeve length to seat properly. One placement tip from PRx: do not mount it directly under a pull-up bar, for reasons that become obvious the first time you swing.
Getting specialty bars vertical and onto the wall is one of the highest-value square-footage trades in a home gym, which is why Fitness Supply stocks the PRx storage range. Single configuration, all hardware included.
