Built Stiff for the Big Three

The PRx Reef Power Barbell is a dedicated powerlifting bar: a 29mm shaft with low whip, aggressive mountain knurling from end to end, and a 2,000 lb static load rating. Under a maximal squat it stays where you put it instead of oscillating on the walk-out.

The shaft is fully knurled with IPF standard marks, so the bar grips your back on squats and your hands on deadlifts. If your training is squat, bench and deadlift, this is the bar built for it.

Key Features

2,000 lb Static Load
The highest capacity in the PRx barbell range, rated for the heaviest powerlifting loads.
220,000 PSI Tensile Strength
Rated at ≥220,000 PSI ± 5%, exceptionally high-tensile steel for a stiff, resilient shaft.
Low Whip
A rigid 29mm shaft that does not bounce or sway when you unrack a maximal squat.
Aggressive Mountain Knurl
Sharp mountain knurling holds a heavy deadlift without a hook grip slipping.
Fully Knurled Shaft
Knurl runs the full length, including the centre, so the bar locks onto your back under a low-bar squat.
IPF Knurl Marks
Powerlifting standard markings for competition-accurate hand and grip placement.
Grooved QPQ Sleeves
Grooved sleeve texture with a QPQ finish keeps plates from sliding once collared.
Derlin Shaft Bushings
Controlled, quiet sleeve rotation that suits slow, heavy lifting rather than fast Olympic turnover.

Description

A power bar is not a general training bar with a different label. The whole design brief is stiffness. When you unrack 500 lb, a flexible bar keeps moving after you have stopped, and that oscillation costs you the setup. The Reef is built to eliminate it: a thicker 29mm shaft, ≥220,000 PSI tensile steel, and Derlin bushings that give controlled rather than free-spinning sleeves.

The knurl matches the intent. Mountain knurling is cut sharper and more aggressive than a volcano pattern, and the Reef runs it the full length of the shaft including the centre. That centre knurl is the detail powerlifters look for: under a low-bar squat it grips your shirt and back so the bar does not creep down your spine mid-set. It is also the reason this is not the bar you want for high-rep cleans.

IPF standard marks give you the competition reference points for bench grip width and hand placement, so what you rehearse at home matches what you do on the platform. Grooved QPQ sleeves keep plates seated and shrug off the wear of repeated loading.

Fitness Supply recommends the Reef Power Barbell for lifters whose programme is built around the squat, bench and deadlift. If you also clean, snatch or run mixed conditioning, the PRx Thresher Barbell is the better all-rounder.

A Note on Whip

Whip describes the flex and rebound of a barbell shaft under load. Higher whip helps generate momentum in Olympic lifts, while low whip keeps a bar steady and predictable under maximal squats, presses and pulls. The Reef is deliberately set to low whip, which is what a powerlifting bar should be.
