Your First Real Barbell, Not a Compromise

The PRx Swift Barbell is the bar most home gyms should start with. It is a full-size 20kg training bar with a 700lb capacity, grooved sleeves and proper knurl marks, priced so that buying it does not eat the budget you set aside for plates and a rack.

It is built for general training: squats, presses, rows, deadlifts and the occasional clean. Beginners get a bar they will not outgrow in six months, and experienced lifters get a dependable second bar for a garage or a spare rack.

Key Features

700 lb Capacity
A static load rating well beyond what most home lifters will put on it, backed by 165,000psi tensile strength.
IWF and IPF Knurl Marks
Both sets of rings are cut into the shaft, so you can dial in Olympic and powerlifting hand positions on one bar.
Medium Volcano Knurl
Grippy enough for heavy pulls, mild enough that high-rep sets do not leave your hands raw.
Grooved Sleeves
Textured sleeves give collars something to bite into so plates stay put mid-set.
Copper Bushings
Reliable, low-maintenance sleeve rotation that keeps the bar quiet and smooth through cleans and rows.
Low Whip, Stable Feel
The shaft stays composed under load, which is exactly what you want when you are still grooving technique.
Full Competition Dimensions
86.5in overall with a 28mm shaft and 16-1/8in of usable sleeve, so it fits any standard rack and J-cups.
Chrome Finish
Decorative chrome shaft and chrome sleeves resist rust better than raw steel in an unconditioned garage.

Description

There is a version of the budget barbell that is genuinely bad: soft steel, sleeves that seize, knurling that is either invisible or vicious. The Swift is not that bar. PRx built it to the same dimensional standard as their premium bars, then chose sensible materials rather than cutting corners on the parts that matter.

Start with the shaft. At 28mm with a medium Volcano knurl, it feels like a bar should in your hands. The Volcano pattern grips through chalk and sweat without the sandpaper bite of an aggressive powerlifting knurl, which matters when you are doing sets of ten instead of singles. Both IWF and IPF rings are marked, so whether you are setting up for a snatch or a competition bench grip, the reference points are there.

The sleeves run on copper bushings and are grooved to hold collars securely. Rotation is smooth enough for cleans and front squats, and the low whip keeps the bar predictable when you are still learning to brace and drive. A 700lb static load capacity means the bar is rated far past the point where the lifter becomes the limiting factor.

We carry the Swift because it answers the question we get most often: what bar should I buy first. This one, in most cases. Add collars and plates, and you have a complete, honest setup for a fraction of what a bearing bar costs.
